Unicode behind emoticon styles

Emoticon font styles combine two different approaches to expressive text:

Kaomoji — text-based emoticons built from Unicode characters across multiple blocks. The classic (っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ uses: parentheses (U+0028, U+0029), っ (U+3063 Hiragana Small Tsu), ◔ (U+25D4 Circle with Upper Right Quadrant Black), ◡ (U+25E1 Lower Half Circle), and ♥ (U+2665 Black Heart Suit). Emoji brackets — full emoji code points used as wrappers: 😊 (U+1F60A Smiling Face with Smiling Eyes), 😄 (U+1F604), 😁 (U+1F601), 🤗 (U+1F917 Hugging Face), 😉 (U+1F609 Winking Face), 😎 (U+1F60E Smiling Face with Sunglasses), 🥳 (U+1F973 Partying Face), 😍 (U+1F60D Heart Eyes), 🤩 (U+1F929 Star-Struck), 😂 (U+1F602 Face with Tears of Joy). These come from the Emoticons block (U+1F600–U+1F64F).

Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols (U+1D400–U+1D7FF) — the letter styles inside the emoticon brackets: bold (𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬), italic (𝒥𝑜𝓎), script (𝒞𝓊𝓉𝑒), and Gothic (ℭ𝔬𝔬𝔩) variants.

Enclosed Alphanumerics (U+2460–U+24FF) — bubble/circled letter variants Ⓒⓤⓣⓔ and squared variants 🅵🆄🅽 used in some emoticon styles.
